AWS Announces Amazon Braket For Quantum Computing
Amazon Web Services announced Amazon Braket, a new managed service that allows quantum computing on AWS cloud. This announcement was made during the re:Invent conference. Braket is described by Amazon Web Services as a “fully managed services that allows scientists, researchers and developers to experiment with computers from multiple quantum hardware suppliers in one place.” It’s currently provided by D-Wave and IonQ, as well as Rigetti (a simulated environment).
“I believe it is safe to assume that most organizations won’t own a quantum computing machine, and will find the cloud based on-demand model a better fit,” stated Jeff Barr, AWS Chief Evangelist in a blog post about Braket. “It could be that production-scale quantum computers will be the first technology to use the cloud exclusively.”
Barr stated that the new service was designed to give users hands-on experience using qubits and quantum circuits. You can test and build your circuits in a virtual environment before running them on a real quantum computer. Amazon Braket is an AWS service that is fully managed, with encryption and security built in at every level.
Amazon also launched a Quantum Solutions Lab to connect its users and quantum computing experts with partners.
The company stated that Amazon Quantum Solutions Lab experts would impart knowledge and guide research to help you build quantum skills, experience and expertise. “Our experts will work side by side with your team to explore the most effective ways to use quantum computers, collaborate in experiments, and provide insight about existing quantum technology so you can deploy quantum solutions when the right time comes.”
